About the Author
Behshad Hastibakhsh, 35, is an award winning Political Scientist by training, Marketing & Public Relations Specialist by experience, Public Speaker and published Writer with passion.
Born in the Northern Iranian city of Sari, at the Caspian Sea, Behshad has lived in exile since his early youth. He completed his high school education in Köln, Germany, before immigrating to Vancouver, Canada, in 1990 to pursue his educational- and professional career.
Behshad holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of British Columbia with specialization in Political Science and Germanic Studies (Class of 1996). He has successfully completed graduate level curriculums in Business Administration, and is fluent in English, German, and Persian.
Currently, Behshad is pursuing a successful career in Public Relations and Corporate Communications with a British Columbia based software company. Prior to joining the business sector, Behshad was active in grassroots-based community initiatives at North Shore Multicultural Society, a non-profit agency serving the immigrant community.
In 1996, Behshad was honored by the Leadership Institute with the Youth Leadership Award for his contribution to shaping the public policy process.
Behshad maintains vast interests in global politics and is committed to public education and advancement of socio-economic conditions, democracy and human rights through tolerance, compassion and compromise.
Behshad is a proud supporter of Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympic Games as well as Canadian and Iranian sports teams. He views sports as a means of bridging differences.
