Washington, D.C. Tuesday August 17, 2010— Social media innovator and veteran NPR News Senior Producer Davar Ardalan, joins The Michael Eric Dyson Show as Executive Producer today.

The Michael Eric Dyson show is a new one-hour daily news/talk program supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. From  politics to pop culture, the show delivers thoughtful analysis on the biggest stories of the day, intimate conversations with your favorite news makers and biting commentary on the hottest issues.
'I am genuinely excited to welcome Davar Ardalan,” says Host Michael Eric Dyson. 'She is energetic, innovative and imaginative, and her tremendous intellectual resources will not only serve our show, but the public radio audience as well.'
Most recently, Ardalan was in charge of Weekend Edition at NPR News, two of the networks most popular newsmagazines.  At Weekend Edition, Ardalan expanded audience interactivity and integrated social media tools all the while producing an array of interactive stories on everything from race and politics to the impact of the recession on public radio listeners.
“Davar’s social media sensibility coupled with her creative radio programming skills make her one of today’s most dynamic public radio producers,” says LaFontaine Oliver, General Manager of WEAA, the Baltimore public radio station that produces and distributes the show. “Her understanding of the digital and mobile news space will be a great asset to The Michael Eric Dyson Show.”
Ardalan has also worked as a Supervisory Producer for Morning Edition where she helped shape the daily newsmagazine, and was responsible for decisions that required elaborate coordination and planning such as broadcasts from Baghdad, Kabul and New Orleans.  As a veteran NPR journalist, Ardalan produced hundreds
of stories from profiles of Iraqi President JalalTalabani, to actor and philanthropist

Paul Newman to music features on Herbie Hancock to cooking segments with culinary wizard Alton Brown.
“As a journalist, I am eager not only to inform but also to involve citizens on the radio and online,” Ardalan says,  “In this way, I look forward to giving voice to communities and empowering our audience to interact with Michael Eric Dyson and guests through new storytelling platforms.  I am committed to creating an interactive space where our audience can have a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas, and cultures.'
Davar Ardalan began in public radio as a reporter at KUNM-FM in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1991 and moved to NPR News in Washington DC in 1993.  Ardalan is a mother of four and author of a memoir, 'My Name Is Iran.' She is also a noted speaker at events around the country including the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Personal Democracy Forum in New York.
